Frost & Keeling participated in the Design and Renovation of the multi-story 200,000 square foot building which was reconfigured from housing units to multi-use military training, education, and administrative spaces. As part of our scope of work, the building’s existing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system was removed and replaced with new ductwork, air handlers, boilers, pumps, and a 325-ton chiller to accommodate the new building configuration and to improve system energy efficiency. The HVAC systems were upgraded to new VAV air handling systems with specialized sequences of operation on the second and third floors, designed to match fan speeds with building loads for efficiency and comfort. The mechanical and boiler rooms were reconfigured to accommodate new equipment and associated MEP upgrades. The design included complete plumbing retrofits of the toilet rooms and showers with new instantaneous steam-to-domestic hot water heat exchangers and a duplex domestic water booster pump system.
